Jasmoniqua Cleveland is pursuing advanced clinical training at CORE. She has a master’s degree in clinical psychology from The Chicago School and is currently a fourth year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology Program there as well. Jasmoniqua also holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Morgan State University. Jasmoniqua has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, forensic, residential, and crisis service centers. She has worked with diverse client populations ranging from children to older adults, providing psychotherapy and assessment services. She has an interest in working with clients with a wide range of presenting concerns including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma related disorders, impulse-control and conduct problems, and also has experience with clients diagnosed with schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, dissociative disorders. personality disorders. and intellectual developmental disorders. Jasmoniqua also works as a crisis intervention counselor for a police department in the suburbs of Chicago, and enjoys being a community resource for people in need of services.

Jasmoniqua believes that the relationship between the client and therapist is the most impactful aspect of therapeutic growth. Her authenticity, nonjudgemental stance, empathy, and genuine desire to understand her clients, create a safe and comfortable space for clients to process how their lived experiences shape who they are and how they interact with others. Jasmoniqua approaches her clients from a relational psychodynamic perspective with an emphasis on the role of attachment, understanding the impact of power, privilege, and cultural factors, and aspects of client centered interventions. Her clinical interests include difficulties experienced in early childhood, identity development, emotional expression, and relational patterns. Jasmoniqua enjoys working with individuals (adults and children), couples, and families. She also has an interest in supporting clients who have been impacted by the legal system.
