Hana Simon is pursuing advanced clinical training at CORE. She has a Master’s degree from The Chicago School, and is currently a fourth-year doctoral student in the Psy.D. program. She received her undergraduate degree in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has since worked in various clinical settings. Hana has worked in residential, community, and therapeutic day school facilities and gathered experience with diverse client populations ranging from adolescents to older adults, and provides both psychotherapy and psychological assessment services. She has worked with individuals with disorders ranging from trauma-related, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, depressive, anxiety, mood, personality and conduct disorders. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families. Hana is holistic in her diagnostic and therapeutic style, and conceptualizes individuals in terms of the many complex systems in which they are intertwined.
Hana’s style of therapy is relational, as she emphasizes the therapeutic potential that can be found within the relationship between the therapist and client. Her research and clinical interests include human sexuality, gender and identity, as well as issues experienced in adolescence and
early adulthood. Hana values a family-systems approach to therapy that aims to highlight individuals as the multidimensional people that they are, embedded in complex familial and cultural systems. She also incorporates elements of psychodynamic and humanistic-existential philosophies into her therapeutic approach, as she believes in the power of unconditional positive regard within a relationship that has the safety for the client to explore all of the social, biological, psychological and cultural factors that are relevant to their uniquely human experience.
Hana has received the following certifications:
Current Chair of IPAGS (Illinois Psychological Association)
Member of PASD (Projects Advancing Sexual Diversity)
